We're The Millers...from Denver

So last night, Bestie and I curl up to watch the movie "We're The Millers"and I think it took less than five minutes for this Fifty-Two-Eighty Coinkeydink to materialize when the main character David Clark (played by Jason Sudeikis) runs into an old college buddy and we discover he's still selling weed. when he declares: "it's the best in Denver!"

I stopped posting these coinkeydinks several months ago because they were just getting to be too many, but this one was too good and worth resurrecting this dusty blog.

Last Man Standing

CityTV here has been running the hell out of a promo about Tim Allen's new TV show "Last Man Standing." Finally giving in to the hype and since it happened to fall between a re-run of 30 Rock's Valentines Day episode and a new Suburgatory, Wes and I decided to give it a view.

Kinda half-watching the show, Wes and I find ourselves glued back to the screen when Tim Allen's character says "so what brings you to Denver?" Wes and I ask each other if we heard what we thought we did and then the character talks about coming from Durango. And then there's discussion about building a new store out by the airport in Thornton.

Yup - that's Colorado. And yes, yet another coinkeydink worth mentioning.

Oh, and P.S. The line that kept standing out in the promo was from Tim Allen's first line of the series: "It's good to be back", hinting on his return to TV, 12 years since Home Improvement went off the air. Wonder if there's any other hint that could be taken from that line?

Rachel Ray

So, Wes and I plop down on the couch and turn on Rachel as she's hosting an episode on newlywed couples. Sherry Shepherd adds the laughs as usual and then the mr handyman segment comes on featuring a Manhattan couple dealing with a small, cramped place and needing help.

In the video feature, the newlyweds talk about their clutter and then of course the woman mentions that they've stuffed as much of the wedding gifts they could in their place, but have a bunch of stuff still in storage at her parents place in, wait for it...

Colorado!

All these coincidences sure make you wonder if something/one/it is trying to tell Wes and I something.

30 Rock

So, leave it to Liz' crazy former boyfriend to try and recreate one of Colorado's notable news stories of the decade. No, not Tebow-madness or Columbine or even Beauty Queen Benet. Just when we'd thought it had escaped the mental memories, there in the middle of Ron Artest Park he does his part to correct "what they missed back there in Denver..." a more newsworthy Balloon Boy escapade!

Strombo's Mom

It pains me to have to say that this latest random and coincidental reference to my home town comes thanks to a certain quarterback's extended 15-minutes of fame by turning pigskin play into pulpit preaching. Nevertheless, it was this sweet Tweet treat from CBC's George Stroumboulopoulos concerning his Mom...

For the record, there shall be NO Tebowing here as a result of this latest co-in-key-dink!

Need a Shark Tank or Lap Pool?

After catching the Denver Broncos come from behind win over the Chicago Bears, I decided to venture out in the cold to grab some artery-clogging kibbles at Dangerous Dans, chocolate and Coke.

Nursing a nasty chest cold, Wes stayed back at the loft. Not wanting to start watching The Simpsons Christmas episode without me, he flipped over to CTV to mindlessly watch a show featuring architecture and a renovated building in Vancouver. So it's a Canadian network, a Canadian show about a Canadian city and Canadian architects.

One of the amazing features of this building is that the rooftop lap pool doubles as the skylight for the penthouse suite. Click on the YouTube link and I'll let the video pick up at this point...

Of course, the only source in North America is, where else??!

Former Toronto Mayor Tweet

Quick check of my Twitter feed today and this one caught my eye as it mentioned a familiar city.

Are you seeing a pattern here - these things happen almost daily.
